I have a passion for people and a passion for fitness and health, and when you combine all three, I am in my happy place! I found CrossFit in May 2015, and have been a huge proponent since. I am a recovering long-distance runner (35 full and 11 ultra-marathons in five years) who for years only worked upper body at the globo gym because, you know, 'running' was my lower body workout. I thought I could eat whatever I wanted and I thought I was in good shape because I burned 2000+ calories per run. I was wrong! I had no idea that increased work capacity over broad time (varying workout durations) and modal domains (cardio/Oly lift/gymnastics) was the best measure of fitness. In the beginning, I wouldn’t have agreed with this metric, but over the past several years of being a CrossFit athlete and experiencing the growth and increased work capacity, I know that it is the best way for ME to measure MY fitness, and it probably is for you too! As someone who has struggled with my weight my entire life, I have finally found a fitness methodology and a proper eating regimen to bring the way forward for a fit lifestyle. Fitness is, and should be, a journey; I don’t want to ‘arrive’. I would love for everyone to go on the journey with me and the amazing people at CrossFit BA. As an avid learner, I jumped at the opportunity to study for and obtain my L1 Trainer certificate. Now I want to share the valuable lessons I've learned with anyone willing to listen while of course having the most fun possible. You will hear more about a workout's stimulus and how power is generated from the posterior chain than you thought was possible, but hopefully you’ll have fun while doing it. I have been married 25 years to my best friend and partner in crime, Kristi, and I have two awesome daughters, Jenna and Ryann. I love to listen to podcasts and audiobooks, to travel, and to learn/experience new skills. In April, I will obtain my Open Water SCUBA certification in Costa Rica. As a six-year veteran of the US Navy, this certification is only about 20 years overdue! Lastly, if my day job as an IT Audit Manager doesn't quite work for me, I can always find a job as Rick Flair's stunt double. For those who know...know! And for those who don't, come workout with me at 530am M-F or join the 9am Saturday morning team workout to see why!
